‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Star, Downingtown Native to Host Season Premiere of ‘Saturday Night Live’
Downingtown native and popular actor Miles Teller will host the premiere episode of the upcoming 48th season of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 1, writes Franki Rudnesky for Philly Voice.
Teller, who played Rooster, a protege to Tom Cruise’s character in the hit movie Top Gun: Maverick, will be joined by musical guest Kendrick Lamar.
This is Teller’s first time hosting the popular show. In addition to being part of the biggest sequel of all time – Maverick has taken that title from Frozen II – the actor also starred alongside Chris Hemsworth in the Netflix movie Spiderhead this summer. His earlier career spans a variety of genres and includes hits such as Only the Brave, War Dogs, Footloose, and the Divergent trilogy.
Teller is a huge sports fan and loves to support his Philly teams on social media and in person. In June, during Top Gun Night, he threw out the first pitch at the Phillies game. That day, the first 1,500 fans who bought tickets also got an exclusive Miles Teller “Rooster” bobblehead wearing a Phillies cap.
