The Grove at 10 Liberty Boulevard in Malvern — a $22 million redevelopment of the former Shops at Great Valley — is thriving after an inauspicious start when the pandemic struck in early 2020, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

After DP Partners purchased the property in 2017, Sly Fox Brewery and Bomba Taco + Bar opened in January 2020, just before COVID-19 arrived in the U.S. Other establishments like Nudy’s Café, Sublime Cupcakes, and Splitting Edge Axe Throwing were set to open as well.

DP Partners worked with its tenants to get through the difficult times.

“I was scared out of my mind,” Jason Dempsey of DP Partners said about closing The Grove for two months.

When it reopened, the outdoor plaza and live music during the warmer months helped to secure a steady stream of customers.

“Things have started to come back to life over the last couple of months,” said John Giannopoulos, CEO of Sly Fox Brewing.

Centered around nearby apartment complexes, office buildings, and hotels, The Grove is marketed as the perfect spot for family weekend activities and after-work gatherings.
