Whether you are planning a family outing, a playful date night, or an outing with friends, there are several local bowling alleys that are among the best in the region and guaranteed to provide you with hours of old-fashioned fun, writes Laura Swartz for Philadelphia Magazine

Devon Lanes in Devon is this year’s Best of Philly winner for old-school bowling. This suburban gem opened in 1959 and still offers that same retro feel. It features 24 bowling lanes and kid-friendly bumpers and ramps, along with arcade games and as an added bonus, it’s BYO.

Just over Chester County lines, Wynnewood Lanes in Ardmore is another classic old-school spot that has been family-owned since 1962. It is the perfect spot for a retro night out with 24 bowling lanes, a snack bar, and arcade games. The lanes also include kid-friendly bumper bowling ones and ramps.

Meanwhile, Arnold’s Family Fun Center in Oaks is a 150,000-square-foot indoor family wonderland that in addition to its 20 lanes of bowling also offers a huge arcade, bumper cars, climbing, bouncing, indoor mini-golf, and laser tag.
