Exton-based Freedom Medical, a company that rents medical equipment and provides related outsourced support services to hospitals and long-term care centers, was acquired earlier this week by its Houston rival US Med-Equip for an undisclosed sum, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The acquisition accelerated US Med-Equip’s national expansion plans and has doubled the number of its locations to around 200 sites.

“The Freedom Medical team shares our mission to support clinicians helping comfort and heal every patient who entrusts them with their care,” said Greg Salario, CEO of Med-Equip. “As we join forces, we will be in a stronger position to serve our hospital partners like never before possible.”

Freedom Medical’s 277 employees will join the new owner’s staff of 700.
