The areas of Chester County that are reeling after the recent closure of Jennersville and Brandywine hospitals will now also lose the services of Tower Health Advanced Life Support ambulances, known as Tower Direct’s Medic 93, writes Mark Walsh for the Daily Local News

Local municipalities serviced by Medic 93 received a letter earlier this week from Dr. Charles F. Barbera, president and CEO of Reading Hospital and senior vice president of Tower Health. It informed them that Medic 93 will stop operating in areas served by the former hospitals as of Sept. 1.

“This is a decision that we have not taken lightly, but it is necessary as a result of the closure of the Brandywine and Jennersville hospitals,” said Barbera. “While Medic 93 has continued to serve the central and southern Chester County region well past the hospitals’ closures, we must now take actions that will better support the communities served by Reading, Phoenixville, and Pottstown hospitals while also improving our operational performance.”

Tower Health will work with Chester County Department of Emergency Services to transition Advanced Life Support coverage to other responders within municipalities affected by this change.
