The second annual community Shop & Dine Raffle, sponsored by the Friends of Kennett Library, is in full swing. With each ticket purchased, there are 31 chances to win $100 (two $50 gift certificates) to local shops and restaurants.

Raffle tickets are available for purchase through the end of July at the Kennett Library on 216 East State Street. Tickets are one for $10, four for $30, eight for $50, and 20 for $100. The Friends will also have stands set up at events around the Kennett Community, including at the Kennett Farmers Market, Third Thursdays in Kennett, and a few other pop-up locations.

“The beauty of this raffle is that the gift certificates are being purchased with funds donated by our generous sponsors,” said Annette Bowers, Friends of Kennett Library Board Chair. “Instead of asking for donations, we purchase the gift certificates from our local restaurants and businesses. It’s a great way to support both the merchant community and the library. A true win-win for everyone.”

All proceeds from the Shop & Dine Raffle support adult literacy and children’s programs at the library. The adult literacy program offers English as a Second Language (ESL), General Equivalency Diploma (GED), and preparation for American Citizenship classes, as well as one-on-one tutoring. Additionally, the Kennett Library offers hundreds of children’s programs each year, including English and Spanish story times.

The Friends of Kennett Library is a growing group of library lovers whose mission is to support the library through fundraising, volunteer services, and advocacy. Membership forms are available at the library or on the website for $20, and they support the library and its programs.
