Plymouth Meeting-based Protecs is in the final stages of development of a $40 million manufacturing facility for Purolite in King of Prussia, one of the many projects it landed during the pandemic, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal. 

“We’re growing like crazy,” said Chris DiPaolo, Protecs president and founder. “We have been seeing a tremendous amount of growth nationally and Covid spurred a lot of those projects on.” 

The company primarily develops facilities for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and health care industries. With many companies in life sciences needing space during the pandemic, Protecs saw its business take off at an unprecedented rate. 

“It’s incredible what is going on in this region,” said DiPaolo. “Having been here for 30 years, I have never seen Philadelphia get the identity with life sciences and life sciences technology as we are right now. It really is incredible what is happening here.” 

Due to this increase in work, the company has doubled its employee count from 28 to 56. 

Protecs also operates a business that converts old office buildings into highly-demanded lab space for early-stage life sciences companies.
