‘A Celebration 150 Years in the Making’: Parkesburg to Host Sesquicentennial Events This Weekend

One hundred and fifty years after the formation of Parkesburg Borough, events are underway this weekend as visitors from all over the region should plan to make a stop for the Parkesburg Sesquicentennial Celebration. 

Beginning on Friday, May 20 from 5-9 PM, festivities launch with a “Victorian Night on Main Street.” Artists, crafters, and musicians will greet partygoers in various buildings that will be open along Main Street.

Performances will include the Victorian Dance Ensemble, Aztec Dance Troupe, Exit Strategy Band, and more. 

On Saturday, May 21 from 10 AM-10 PM, prepare to be entertained with a trove of family-friendly activities in Minch Park. The free event offers historic trolley rides, a Children’s History Carnival, hayrides, and a Fine Arts and Crafts Show. 

Starting at 9 AM on Sunday, May 22, a gathering will occur at the Veterans Memorial in Borough Hall for a Veterans Memorial Service.  

Then, at 11 AM, a community worship event takes place in Minch Park. Other events include Chester County Concert Band performance, a food collection, picnic, and the closing ceremony.
