Parkesburg is planning to celebrate its 150th anniversary with an action-packed three-day series of events that everybody is invited to, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News

The free Sesquicentennial event that will take place from May 20 through May 22 will highlight the town’s century-and-a-half-long history. Planned activities include an art and craft show, a historic program for children, a parade, fireworks, and much more.

“This weekend offers something for everyone,” said organizer Kathleen Hood.

The festivities will commence with a Victorian Night on Main Street on Friday, May 20, with a variety of activities and entertainment. Artists, crafters, and musicians will welcome visitors at various Main Street buildings that will stay open for the evening.

Lots of family-fun activities are planned for Saturday, May 21, in Minch Park, including Historic Trolley Rides, Children’s History Carnival, and a Living-History Revolutionary and Civil War Encampment, to name a few. The Anniversary Parade and fireworks will also take place on Saturday.

Sunday’s celebration will start with a Veteran Memorial Service at the Veterans Memorial at Borough Hall and will continue at Minch Park. The event will conclude with a Closing Ceremony featuring the opening of the Parkesburg Time Capsule.
