Renowned Nationally, Winery in Avondale Proud to Remain ‘Old School’ in 2022
Va La Vineyards in Avondale is staying true to its roots by letting patrons enjoy its premium wines without adding food trucks and live music (for the most part) into the mix, writes Paul Vigna for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.
Va La Vineyards is well known throughout the country. It is the only Pennsylvania winery that made all four of the 101 Best Wineries in America lists published in 2017 by TheDailyMeal.com.
The winery, owned by Anthony Vietri, is open Friday through Sunday afternoons. It has a bar area on the ground floor and a second tasting area on the upper level, along with a back porch and a view of the eight-acre vineyard.
The list of wines stays mostly the same all year. Vietri, the winemaker, describes the winery on its website as “a family farm that produces small-batch dry table wines.”
The wines are made from the northern Italian and French varieties grown at the vineyard and are created in an old-world style “to offer earthiness, good acidity, and savory flavors.”
