Casa Carmen, a boutique winery located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is expanding to Pennsylvania and will add a new West Grove address by summer, writes Paul Vigna for the Harrisburg Patriot-News

Brothers Enrique and Felipe Pallares, who grew up in Ecuador, opened the winery in 2017. Its dry varietals and blends are all produced at The Wine Collective, where Enrique serves as a managing partner and general director. Meanwhile, Felipe is a managing partner, director of operations, and culinary director.

Their new property in West Grove is located off Route 1 and is close to the former Jennersville Hospital. The brothers will start by planting a five-acre vineyard that can be expanded in the future and by renovating a barn that will be turned into a tasting room.

They also plan to plant a botanical garden that will help supply the ingredients for the vermouths they make and sell at Casa Carmen and The Wine Collective.

“The (new) property has tons of character,” said Enrique, “and a nice little slope on the side, which will be great for the vineyard.”

The list of wines produced by the winery includes varietals, a rosé, and several red blends. Food will also be offered.
