Due to office damage from Hurricane Ida, Customers Bank will relocate its headquarters from Phoenixville to Malvern, hoping that a new workspace will entice remote workers to return in-person, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

After its headquarters at 99 Bridge Street in Phoenixville was flooded, Customers closed that branch and began relocating to 40 General Warren Boulevard in Malvern.

The Malvern location was previously owned by Switzerland-based Temenos. The financial software company will keep a small portion of space while Customers can expand into an open office environment.

“People are used to working remotely now,” said Customers Bank spokesperson David Patti. “But we’re trying to get people back into the office now because we feel we lost something. Not productivity but more so collegiality. So, we are going to create new space in a place where they will want to come back.”

The office has multiple conference rooms, a kitchen, foosball and ping-pong tables, and numerous restaurants close by.
