Check Out Where Chester County Ranks Among Pennsylvania’s Counties with the Most GDP Growth

Chester County was among the places in Pennsylvania with the most GDP growth in 2021, according to a recently released report by SmartAsset. 

The county ranked in fifth place in the state with a GDP growth of $599 million and a GDP Growth Index of 24.41 last year. This is significantly above the state average of $185 million. This figure also placed Chester County at No. 182 in the nation. 

In 2021, the county reported business growth of 3.7 percent, which put it in second place in that category, only behind Philadelphia County. Nationwide, the county ranked at No. 683. The state recorded an average drop in business growth of 0.8 percent. 

Meanwhile, 11.2 new building permits per 1,000 homes were issued in that same period, which is the second-highest in Pennsylvania, behind only Butler County. Nationally, Chester County ranked No. 535 in this category. The state average is 3.2. 

The place with the most growth in the Keystone State is Allegheny County with $1.36 billion, followed by Philadelphia County with $1.17 billion.
