For many borough residents, West Chester will never be the same, after Salvatore “Sal” Inzone Sr., the beloved owner of Benny’s Pizza, recently died at 64, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News

Inzone was known to be welcoming and treated customers like family.

Inzone came to America from Sicily, Italy in the 1970s. After owning various pizza shops, he took over Benny’s Pizza in the 1980s.

The community will remember him as a kind, hardworking man “who everybody thought they were his best friend.” He always presented himself at the front of his business, becoming an integral part of the group of small business owners in the area.

“It was the best job I’ve ever had,” said Rachel Prince, who started working for Inzone in 2007. “Work was never like work, and Sal was like a second dad to me. The goofy dad who doesn’t care if you get in trouble.”

Other thoughtful remembrances of Inzone include his support of West Chester’s first responders and how he delivered pizza to students at St. Agnes School every week.
