Exton-Based West Pharma to Invest $70 Million to Expand Manufacturing Operation in North Carolina

Exton-based West Pharma is planning to invest more than $70 million over the next several years to expand its manufacturing operation in North Carolina, according to a staff report from the Kinston (N.C.) Free Press.

This investment in the site will encompass increased production capacity, warehouse, and distribution space. The company already increased its workforce at the site by 90 to bring it to 600 or so employees.

West has more than 10,000 team members across 50 sites worldwide. The company is a leading provider of injectable solutions and services. It manufactures more than 40 billion high-quality components and devices each year. Its products help ensure the safe and effective containment of numerous life-saving and life-enhancing medicines for patients.

“We are pleased to continue our growth in Kinston, which will help support our mission of improving patient lives around the globe,” said Mike Fischer, Site Director at West’s Kinston facility. “We look forward to being able to support our local community with more job opportunities as a result of this expansion and are excited to contribute to a continued bright future in Kinston.”

West has received a $300,000 performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund to help with the expansion.
