The Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center will be “Reelin’ in the Years” tonight, Feb. 4, as it welcomes Countdown to Ecstasy, the preeminent Steely Dan tribute band, to the stage at 7:30 PM.
Considered one of the nation’s most authentic Steely Dan tribute bands, Philadelphia-based Countdown to Ecstasy seeks to bring all the original feelings of watching a Steely Dan performance to its audiences.
According to members of Countdown to Ecstasy, it’s all about respect. This tribute band makes it a point not to focus on replication, but rather to pay respect to one of the biggest names in the 1970s music scene. From Steely Dan’s lyrics to its incredible range and on-stage presence, Countdown to Ecstasy pays homage to the soft-rock, jazz-pop fusion that made Steely Dan the sound of a generation.
For Countdown to Ecstasy, music is not a thing. It’s a lifestyle. This 14-piece band has had years of experience on the music scene, playing at sold-out venues nationwide. With vocals by Matt Sevier, Chelsea ViaCava, Khrista White, and Teresa Grace, as well as instrumentals that leave audiences in a trance, these musicians are dedicated to producing good vibes and good tunes.
“They capture the essence of Steely Dan perfectly in every set, but in a unique, meaningful way,” said April Evans, executive director of Uptown! “Countdown to Ecstasy’s setlist will put audiences into a haze of nostalgic enlightenment.”
