‘In Beer We Crush’: Phoenixville Brewery a Destination on Visit Philadelphia’s New Craft Beer Trail

By

“In Beer We Crush” is the motto of Phoenixville’s Rebel Hill Brewing Company, one of the highlights of Visit Philadelphia’s craft beer trail. Timothy Walton, 6ABC, described the fermenting excitement behind the recommendation.

“We try to make beers that are very approachable and crushable,” said Greg Kluge, owner of Rebel Hill Brewing Company.

Kluge founded the brewery five years ago. Its flagship beer is Bleed Green, a double dry-hopped IPA originally brewed in celebration of the Eagles.

Rebel Hill has collaborated with another brewery in Phoenixville, Stable 12, to make Yuzu Illusion, a four percent Japanese-style rice lager.

The beer is created “using yuzu lemons and jasmine rice,” said Kluge.

Meanwhile, its BlackBerry Kettle Sour is a 5.8 percent beer brewed with Loral hops and milk sugar. It is available on tap and in cans.

“We run the gambit with styles,” said Kluge. “We like everything.”

The brewery has 12 taps and always one beer available on the beer engine.

“Only way that makes us different is if you come in and you experience it for yourself,” said Kluge.
