Natural Lands and New Garden Township have preserved eight acres of land bordering White Clay Creek, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News.

“While it may seem like a small property, its conservation is quite significant,” said Oliver Bass, president of Natural Lands. “This stretch of White Clay Creek has been a preservation priority for New Garden for quite some time. Natural Lands is thrilled to have helped facilitate this conservation success.”

To preserve this wooded property that also serves as natural flood control, Natural Land applied for and received additional funding from several sources, including Chester County’s Preservation Partnership Program and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources.

The news was welcomed by many fishermen who often visit the creek to enjoy their favorite pastime.

“Lots of streams have fish, but few have the tranquilizing effect of the White Clay Creek,” said Randall Schauer, a labor relations attorney who lives in eastern Chester County. He was introduced to the creek several years ago while working with clients in Avondale and finds it a favorite spot to shed his workday stresses.
