Ludwig’s Corner Fire Department Rallies Community to Help Two of Its Own

By

Ludwig’s Corner Fire Department in West Vincent Township is rallying the community to help two members of its crew after a fire ravaged their home, reports Beccah Hendrickson for 6ABC.

Last week, Margaret Robinson, who volunteers for Ludwig’s Corner fire police, woke up to find her living room ablaze.

“The entire house was buzzing and popping,” she said. “It was that very sharp sound.”

Robinson faced the emergency solo, as her husband — also a volunteer firefighter — is currently on duty with the National Guard in the Middle East.

She safely rescued her dogs from the flames but lost five cats.

Fire Chief Ross Trego commented on how personal this was for him and his crew, saying, “I don’t even know if there’s a feeling you can describe when it’s one of your own.”

The chief asked the community for donations, and help soon began pouring in. Neighbors dropped off gift cards and items for the couple’s home. Robinson has been touched by the love the community has shown her and her husband.

“I would go to the same ends for every last one of them,” she said.
