In late September, the owners of Phoenixville’s Steel City Coffeehouse & Brewery bought a Mont Clare sandwich shop, the former Eagles Nest Deli.

Now, the husband-and-wife team of Laura Vernola and Ed Simpson are planning to re-open that shop sometime this winter as Mont Clare Deli & Market.

While continuing the past owner’s tradition of hoagies, zeps, slaw, pickled eggs, grilled long hots, tuna, chicken salad, and soups, Vernola and Simpson plan to add a full kitchen for cheesesteaks and grab-and-go meals like eggplant parmesan, meatballs, and chicken cutlets.

“We are excited to represent the Village of Mont Clare, as it sometimes gets overlooked because it is so small,” said Vernola. “Our hope is people will stop by, take in our small village and get to know us.”
