Delaware County native and U.S. Army veteran Jerry Flanagan started JDog Junk Removal in 2011.

Ten years later, the Berwyn company is nationally recognized and ready for its own reality TV series, “Operation Hidden Treasure,” writes Michael Tanenbum for PhillyVoice.

The new reality show will run on the Discovery Channel.

Flanagan served as an infantry combat signaler in the Army, also known as a cable runner or wire dog.

In civilian life afterward, he started moving other people’s unwanted items.

“I was having a hard time finding a job,” Flangan said. “I had a Jeep, bought a trailer, and with some index cards, magic markers, and a cell phone, we basically launched JDog Junk Removal & Hauling.”

He advertised his business as veteran-owned and overhauled the brand. Vets looking for work were recruited as workers through a partnership with the Veterans Administration.

Today, JDog Junk Removal & Hauling has 250 franchises across the U.S.

The series will follow veteran employees around as they handle difficult moves and look for new homes for unique items.
