Cerner Near-Site Health Center Provides Convenience and Clinical Impact
Users of the Cerner near-site health center, known to its patients as Anuva Health, are finding benefits in the services such as convenience, positive clinical outcomes, and cost savings.
One of those patients, Lisa Renzulli, an employee at Cerner Corporation, leverages her employer-sponsored health plan benefit to access the company’s near-site health center and virtual healthcare services for primary care and specialty care services.
Why would someone want to receive healthcare through their employer?
Renzulli shared with VISTA Today a few reasons why this benefit has been invaluable to her as an employee.
“Having access to the health center is wonderful,” she said. “If you come down with a cold or common illness, it is convenient to walk down to the health center during my lunch break or use the virtual services. I switched from my regular primary care doctor because things were so easy, and it provided more access to vaccinations and medical needs.”
The health center is located near her office and her home. Not only is it available for Cerner associates, but for other local businesses who sign up for the services. The health centers offer primary care, urgent care, labs and biometrics screenings, and behavioral health services with locations in West Chester and Malvern. Pharmacy services are also available at the Malvern location. The model is designed to provide a person-centric experience, with these services delivered to the patient all within the health centers.
“I really like the setup of the health center care suite,” said Renzulli. “You have a separate place to sit and talk with the care team while going over information together on a large TV screen. It’s set up so you can chat with the care team about any concerns before the exam.”
In addition to convenience, Renzulli has found the services far more valuable — she’s experienced both clinical and financial results by using this employee benefit.
“To be honest, the healthcare team saved my life,” she said. “When I was experiencing some unusual symptoms, I visited the health center and the nurse practitioner got me an appointment with the right specialist that same day. Her acting promptly and having the connections with the specialist got me the treatment I needed that helped prevent something that could have been fatal.”
The health center also includes a pharmacy where Renzulli can get all of the medications she needs, not only prescriptions but also over-the-counter medications.
“The pharmacy alone saves me financially — many of the over-the-counter prescriptions I need cost much less than at a community retail pharmacy,” she said.
Overall, Cerner on-site pharmacies average a discount of 67 percent across the Top 25 dispensed generic medications.*
