Malvern-based Cantaloupe has acquired Delicious Nutritious, its longtime business partner based in Los Angeles. The transaction closed for an undisclosed sum, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Cantaloupe is a digital payments and software services company focusing on the unattended retail market. Delicious Nutritious is a micro-market payments company that operates under the Yoke Payments trade name.

Through this deal, Cantaloupe — formerly known as USA Technologies — adds a point-of-sale terminal and application that are specific to micro-markets and can be easily integrated into the company’s Seed Markets platform.

Micro-markets are retail locations that fit small spaces no larger than a walk-in closet, including refrigerated cases that offer food and beverages. Seed Markets enables such retail locations, which are usually unattended, to manage their business. Among the services available are route scheduling, warehouse pre-picking, and reporting.

According to Cantaloupe CEO Sean Feeney, these markets are growing the fastest in the unattended retail industry.

“Having worked with Yoke for the last four years, this acquisition was a natural progression of our relationship,” Feeney said. “Now we will be able to expand our micro-market offerings to any location as we continue to invest in the space.”
