Malvern resident Marybeth Christiansen, a retired attorney who crusades against gun violence, was recently feted with a dedicated bench. The honorific provides inspiring respite at Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook, writes Caroline O’Halloran for SAVVY Main Line.
Christiansen recently stepped down as legislative lead of the Pennsylvania Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
One of her most notable achievements has been helping push through a law in Harrisburg that languished for years. It requires that domestic abusers surrender their guns.
As a malpractice attorney, Christiansen combined the strategy of a litigator, the eloquence of an advocate, and the passion of a mother to the cause. Her work begat a safer community.
Although she stepped down from MOMS, she continues to offer advice and share her wisdom with many other gun-safety advocacy groups.
Her goal is to inspire everybody to #keepgoing for causes they care about. The newly dedicated park bench features this hashtag.
