The Brandywine Polo Club is celebrating its 70th anniversary of being a powerhouse member of the region’s equestrian community, writes Michael Bradley for Main Line Today.

The Toughkenamon club has only gotten better with time.

This is especially true over the past three years, after Elizabeth Hedley took over as marketing expert. Hedley boosted the fortunes of numerous polo clubs throughout the nation and is now fully focused on making the Brandywine Polo Club even more successful. Her goal is to create a climate that best combines the sport on the field with a vigorous community of spectators and sponsors.

“I think this is going to take off like a rocket,” she said.

The club is situated on 122 acres with four grass pitches that can each accommodate nine polo fields. An arena hosts matches with higher-rated players that Hedley plans to turn into a stadium. The site has 105 stalls where members can house their horses.

This year’s program includes weekly competitions on Fridays and Sundays, along with seven major events that are expected to draw players from across the globe.
