The SEPTA bus stop at Hollow Road and Conshohocken State Road in Lower Merion Township is among the four “sorriest bus stops” in North America, according to readers of Streetsblog USA, writes Thomas Fitzgerald for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Lower Merion Township’s Vegetation Abomination – as the site has dubbed the now-infamous stop – was nominated by siblings Ethan and Ruth Diamond, who live nearby.

“To me, quality transit is an equity issue, and I felt the bus stop was a microcosm of the struggle in the country,” said 18-year-old Ethan. “I’d drive by it every day and think, ‘How can anyone use that?'”

According to SEPTA ridership figures, only one customer boards and exits at this location on weekdays. However, the transportation authority is not responsible for the maintenance and upgrades of the bus stop. Instead, it is run by the government owner of the right-of-way, the municipality, and/or PennDOT.

The bus stop made the semifinal round of the blog’s quest to find the sorriest bus stop, but was soundly beaten by its forlorn Québec City counterpart.
