PathStone Corporation boasts a long and distinguished history as a force for good throughout the region.

A community development and human services nonprofit dedicated to eliminating poverty and strengthening families and individuals in the communities it serves, PathStone is headquartered in Rochester, N.Y., and operates in scores of counties across seven states and Puerto Rico.

PathStone, which has a location in Kennett Square and provides services in 25 counties in Pennsylvania, has evolved from humble beginnings more than 50 years ago to provide expert support to people hungry for opportunities to achieve the goals they set for themselves.

Founded in 1969 as The Bureau of Program Funding, PathStone started as an advocacy and support services organization for migrant and seasonal farmworkers. In the ensuing years, the organization changed its name multiple times to reflect the expansion of its service areas and lines of business.

PathStone has grown from a federal grant of $340,000 from the Office of Economic Opportunity to its current budget of more than $80 million per year, and its team of 600-plus employees annually serves more than 40,000 people.

PathStone’s main areas of service include:

  • Workforce Development: PathStone delivers quality career and employment services that enhance the skills, performance, and potential of individuals, leading to meaningful employment in desired career pathways. All programs have specific targeted populations, including migrant and seasonal farmworkers; TANF recipients; justice-involved individuals, both youth and adults; seniors ages 55 and older; and others. All programs have specific eligibility criteria.
  • Education and Health: PathStone provides a range of education and health services, including Head Start programing that assures a level educational playing field for children under five years of age. All other programs are designed to promote and enhance lifelong learning, healthy living, and employability skills for eligible adults and families.
  • Housing: PathStone promotes access to personal counseling and financial resources designed to stabilize living environments and provide the foundation for economic security.
  • Community Development: PathStone creates opportunities for people to live and work in thriving, diverse communities from which they can create family assets and access robust community services.

PathStone is a bridge-builder that has connected thousands of individuals and families to the opportunities and resources that have helped them gain and sustain a self-sufficient and purpose-filled life. It’s a testament to PathStone’s tag line: Connecting You to Opportunities.

PathStone is driven by an entrepreneurial commitment to make a significant impact on the lives of the people it serves. The organization was born in the midst of America’s civil rights and antipoverty movement and, for a half-century, has lived its mission through the operation of quality services designed to create hope and opportunities.

“We are proud to formally introduce PathStone Corporation to the community we serve,” said Nita D’Agostino, the Senior Vice President for Direct Services and a member of the Executive Corporate Team who oversees PathStone’s Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia operations.

“Over the years, PathStone Corporation has grown from a single-focused organization to a multi-faceted organization with a diverse staff whose job it is to create a measureable impact in the communities they serve, no matter what line of business. PathStone is a flourishing organization that will continue to grow and contribute to our local communities.”
