Phoenixville’s Cameron Peters ‘Spreading Smiles’ Through Flowers

By

For Cameron Peters, owner of Cameron Peters Floral Design in Phoenixville, her love of flowers blossomed a lifetime ago, reports Vittoria Woodill for CBS Philly.

A framed picture on the shop’s counter commemorates her long-term botanical bent, showing her at three years old, gazing at a basket of blossoms.

“Somebody from The Evening Bulletin came by one day and was taking pictures,” recalled Peters. “We were working on planting a children’s garden.”

Today, Peters and her husband, Bill, specialize in creating hand-crafted bouquets and charming pick-me-ups designed to improve a mood.

“Even if somebody buys a bunch for themselves, it’s for their mental health,” she said. “Basically, through flowers, I’m spreading smiles.”

Last year was rough for the shop, as it was so many other small businesses. After having to close for eight weeks, the pair was able to reopen a week before Mother’s Day. Even with a shortage of flowers, they pivoted to putting patio plants together — and people loved it.

Then, water leakage in the walls followed by a fire closed the shop again for weeks. But with strong roots in the community, the pair received much-needed support that helped them survive.

“There were so many people that were rooting for us,” said Peters.
