Downingtown Printer, Paoli Nurse Find an Unlikely but Heartwarming Connection

By

Valerie Osiecki, the owner of Downingtown-based I Do! Invitations and Announcements, helps couples get the fine print for their big day just right, reports Vittoria Woodill for CBS Philly.

“I love what I do,” said Osiecki. “I can’t wait to wake up and just do what I do.”

She is following in her father’s footsteps, continuing the legacy he started in 1951 with his printing company.

During the pandemic, Osiecki has helped many couples navigate the unexpected challenges. But a chance interaction with a customer turned the tables on Osiecki’s ongoing goodwill, bringing it back to her.

In September, a bride reached out to schedule an appointment for Dec. 10.

On Dec. 9, Osiecki’s 90-year-old father was in Paoli Hospital with COVID-19. She was unsure about keeping the important new-business meeting.

When she explained the situation to the customer, a startling revelation occurred: The bride-to-be was her father’s nurse.

She and Osiecki maintained their connection throughout the wedding preparations. And onto the unfortunate day when Osiecki’s father passed.

“This isn’t just a business,” said Osiecki. “These people are my friends and my family. And I’m invested in what’s printed and their wedding day.”
