The Leapfrog Group’s hospital safety grades, an employee-driven hospital rating system, has awarded top marks to two Chester County hospitals, writes Harold Brubaker for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Leapfrog Group is a nonprofit founded two decades ago by major national employers. It collects data to ensure better value for the $700-plus billion that employees spend each year on healthcare. Leapfrog seeks to help employees and their families be more active in the way services are provided.

Leapfrog compiles its grades twice a year using statistics from Medicare and other sources. Its reporting encourages best practices in hospitals, thereby reducing medical errors and adverse outcomes.

The latest rating awarded an A to both Chester County Hospital and Paoli Hospital.

The three Tower Health hospitals did not fare as well. Jennersville Hospital in West Grove earned a C, while Brandywine Hospital and Phoenixville Hospital each received a D.

“These ratings are not an accurate reflection of the high-quality and compassionate care delivered across each of our facilities,” said a Tower Health spokesperson.
