St. Charles Seminary, Gwynedd Mercy University Say Amen to Sales Agreement
Gwynedd Mercy University and Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary have signed a sale agreement that will allow the latter to move to the former’s campus, writes Kevin Tierney for Around Ambler.
The sale includes around 15 acres of space on the campus’s northern border, along with its two existing buildings. The seminary will pay $10 million for the parcel.
This payment will be supplemented by a $3 million gift from the Maguire Foundation to Gwynedd Mercy University.
“The Saint Charles Seminary community is thrilled to have found such a wonderful new home and grateful for the generous support of The Maguire Foundation in making this transaction possible,” said Bishop Timothy C. Senior, the Seminary’s Rector.
The seminary expects to be operational at its new location for the 2024-25 academic year.
However, once the transaction is complete, Gwynedd Mercy University and Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary will not merge.
Each will maintain its own governance structure and academic freedom, as well as the ability to offer programming that is consistent with each’s missions and core values.
