Sanofi U.S., a division of the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi, is planning to close its Great Valley plant in Malvern. If it’s shuttered, 75 employees face an uncertain future. John George covered the decision for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. According to that paperwork, the facility closure at 11 Great Valley Parkway will start June 30.

“As part of Sanofi’s ongoing strategic transformation, we are divesting our Great Valley site in Malvern that focuses on the packaging and distribution of investigational medical products,” said Ashleigh Koss, a Sanofi spokeswoman. “With recent changes in Sanofi’s R&D portfolio, we’ve seen decreased activity at Great Valley and anticipate a continued decline.”

The site will fully close by the end of September. The impacted employees have already been notified of the impending action. Sanofi will either offer positions elsewhere in the company or separate them.

“This was a difficult decision. We plan to undertake this process responsibly and assist our employees with this transition,” said Koss.
