Local Couple Returns to Main Line from New York, Nearly Triples Their Living Space

By

Area natives Michael Kaufman and Allie Strawbridge have returned to the Main Line from New York and nearly tripled the living space for their family in the process, writes Sandy Smith for Philadelphia magazine.

The pair moved to the Big Apple for work after graduating from college nearly two decades ago. After a while, both got a hankering to return to the Philadelphia area but put it on hold. Then, the pandemic gave them a huge push, and they decided it was time to leave their 840-square-foot apartment on Manhattan’s East Side.

Since Kaufman hails from Huntingdon Valley, and Strawbridge grew up in Gladwyne, they knew right away where they wanted to go. So, the pair hit the market and found a three-bedroom Cape Cod in Merion Station for $690,000.

When they first looked at their new home, they quickly realized it provided them with exactly what they were looking for: more space for work and their children to play, all while staying close to the attractions of Center City.

“We jumped on it,” said Kaufman.
