Comic Book Shop in Oxford Aims to Get Kids Back to Reading, Away from Electronics

Randy and Lori Grace are the owners of The Maroon Hornet Comics & Collectibles in Oxford.

Although the names of most comic book shops are inspired by superheroes, the name of The Maroon Hornet Comics & Collectibles in Oxford is derived from the local high school’s mascot and colors, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Run by Randy and Lori Grace, the shop aims to get kids back into comic books and off their phones. As such, it offers a family-friendly atmosphere with something for everybody in its vast selection.

“We thought it would help younger ones to get back to reading and not spending as much time playing video games or on their phones,” the Graces said. “It would be a place for families to come and enjoy game nights with friends and to make new friends. It would bring back to the adults a slice of their childhood that they can share and bond with their kids.

In addition to a sizable comics collection that includes the big names (DC and Marvel), as well as independent comics, The Maroon Hornet also offers games, collectibles, and toys, among other things.
