Unionville High School graduate Alli Lowe, an outside hitter on the Colgate University women’s volleyball team and reigning Patriot League Player of the Year, has predictably been named the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year.

With the pandemic having postponed the season’s start, the Raiders, who ordinarily compete in volleyball in the fall, kicked off their truncated schedule last weekend by splitting a pair of matches with Army.

It had been a while since Colgate last took to the court, as the Raiders have a lot to defend from their 2019 campaign. They posted a 24-8 overall record and went 15-1 in the Patriot League to claim the regular season title. The 24 wins tied for second-most in program history in the Division I era.

Lowe was named the 2019 Patriot League Player of the Year, as she topped the team with 465 kills, 234 digs, and 45 total blocks. On her way to posting a .220 hitting percentage, she tallied 16 service aces, along with 16 assists.

The Kennett Square native recorded eight double-doubles and seven 20-plus-kill matches.

Lowe is no stranger to Patriot League laurels, having previously been named the 2017 Rookie of the Year.
