After Three First Dates, Local Couple Finds True Happiness

By

The third time was a charm for Lower Gwynedd couple Randi and Stephen Freedman, who went on three first dates before realizing they were made for each other, writes Kellie Patrick Gates for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In 2009, both were recently divorced after 20 years of marriage. They both had four children each.

Randi, who works at Einstein Medical Center, was the first to approach Stephen, now cantor at Melrose B’nai Israel Emanu-El in Elkins Park.

As someone who adheres tightly to her faith, she was hoping to find a kindred spirit. But after the first date ended due to a family emergency and a second first date that she thought went well, Stephen told her he was not ready for a new relationship yet.

Several months later, it was Stephen who reached out and asked Randi out on a date. And it did not take long from there for him to pop the question. Now, they have been happily married for a decade and living with their rescue cat.

“He is the kindest, sweetest, most supportive person that I’ve ever been privileged to spend time with,” said Randi.
