A True Small-Town Gem, Kennett Square Has Plenty to Offer for the Holidays

By

A true small-town gem, Kennett Square has a lot to offer for the holidays, including numerous options for great dining and shopping, writes Timothy Walton for 6ABC.

The town exudes the holiday atmosphere with lights, wreaths, and trees decked out all around.

“It has everything you could want with small-town charm and Christmas spirit,” said Bo Wright, Executive Director of Historic Kennett Square.

Kennett Square is home to Talula’s Table, owned by James Beard-nominee Aimee Olexy. Her private dinners require reservations months in advance, but they are well worth the wait. The establishment is actually a market with just two tables set 20 feet apart. The market itself offers great gift ideas for a foodie, including more than 50 artisanal cheeses.

Meanwhile, Clean Slate Goods offers gifts with meaning. Everything is handmade by artists and makers in at-risk communities.

“It’s all about empowering them with dignified employment,” said Kari Matthews, owner of Clean Slate Goods.

The store sells leather bags made in Ethiopia and candles out of Texas, among many other products.

Meanwhile, The Mushroom Cap has mushroom-themed gifts from The Mushroom Capital of the World.
