Immaculata Alum, Cybersecurity Expert to Discuss ‘the Cyberwar to Hijack Elections’ on Tuesday
Immaculata University will host a virtual presentation – entitled “Manipulated: Inside the Cyberwar to Hijack Elections and Distort the Truth” by Theresa Major Payton, a 1989 Immaculata graduate – on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 6 PM.
Payton will discuss her best-selling book that details her battlefront stories from the global cyber war of clicks, swipes, Internet access, technical backdoors, and espionage schemes.

As the first woman to serve as the White House Chief Information Officer, Payton is the co-founder and CEO of the cybersecurity firm Fortalice. She is a best-selling author, star of the CBS reality TV series Hunted, and one of America’s most respected authorities on Internet security, data breaches, and fraud mitigation.
During the presentation, Payton will cover important topics such as future cyberattacks, artificial intelligence, “deepfake” videos, and chatbots. Participants will also learn how their most fundamental beliefs may be manipulated and what they can do to counter it.
Payton is a member of the Immaculata’s Board of Trustees and serves on the advisory board for university’s undergraduate major/minor in Cybersecurity. In 2018, she received the Director’s Community Leadership Award from the FBI, given to individuals and organizations for their efforts in combating crime, terrorism, drugs, and violence in America.
