With the 2020 Olympics postponed, Boyd Martin, a two-time Olympian in eventing who owns and operates a riding school on more than 75 acres in Cochranville, remained busy over the summer by training equestrian riders, writes Andrew Tredinnick for the New Jersey Herald.

Starting in June, Martin hosted three clinics for North Jersey Equestrian riders at Mountainview Farm in Branchville, N.J.

“These are big opportunities,” said Kim Clouse of North Jersey Equestrian. “It’s very hard to get somebody of his caliber here. We try to have others here as well that have been or are at the upper level, but he’s definitely the most recognized.”

Martin’s specialty is eventing, the equestrian event that consists of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. During the clinics, he trained both amateur and advanced riders in these disciplines.

The vast cross-country terrain they used at the 80-acre farm impressed even the seasoned equestrian.

“This is an unbelievable training center for cross-country,” said Martin, a Chester County resident who represents the U.S. athletically despite being born in Australia. “Having all of the cross-country type of fences over this undulating country, there’s no replacement.”
