Students Creating a Challenge for COVID-19 Mitigation at These Delco Colleges
Students at Swarthmore and Haverford colleges are creating a challenge for COVID-19 mitigation protocols put in place for the new college season, according to reports in both campus newspapers.
At Swarthmore, a student is quarantining in an on-campus dormitory after testing positive for COVID-19 Friday night, according to The Phoenix.
Students were alerted. The college completed contact tracing, and those people have also been quarantined.
Two college employees had also tested positive but their disposition was not disclosed in the article.
No one has shown symptoms, and the student reported the test results immediately, according to The Phoenix.

At Haverford College, large weekend parties forced administrators to increase restrictions, according to The Clerk.
The restrictions were put in place Friday at 10 PM and will last at least a week.
In-person classes will continue, but dorm visits and indoor gatherings are prohibited, and campus traveling is restricted.
Interim Dean of the College Joyce Bylander chastised the students for ignoring social-distancing and mask-wearing guidelines.
“For those of you who had lapses in judgement last evening, you need a reset,” the Dean said in an e-mail.
