The Chester County History Center is selling locally grown mums, ornamental cabbage, and kale.

If you would like to support the CCHC’s educational programming while adding color to your front step, you can place an order by clicking here. Click “get tickets” to choose the colors and quantities of mums – rust, yellow, burgundy, pink, or white – and the quantity of ornamental cabbage or kale plants. All plants are eight inches with an approximately 18-22-inch head and cost $15 each.

“Sure, you can buy mums at a national chain, but now more than ever it is important to support small businesses,” said Conor Hepp, President of CCHC.

The plants are provided by Londonderry Greenhouses, a family business that prides itself on the quality of its product. Farmer Joe Kovatch said that the effects of the pandemic on the business have been rough, but, through word of mouth, things are starting to turn around.

Once you place your order, you can pick up your plants from masked volunteers along Evans Alley, just north of the main entrance to the Chester County History Center at 225 North High Street in West Chester. Orders will be ready Oct. 1 and 2 between noon and 6 PM and Saturday, Oct 3. from 9 AM-4 PM. You may purchase plants in person as well during those times.

You may request delivery of your plants by e-mailing asnavely@chestercohistorical.org or by calling and leaving a message at 610-692-4800 x 232.
