Fawn Wanders into West Chester Yard, Makes Friends with Family’s Dog

By

A West Chester family captured a now-viral video of its dog, Sally, playing with a fawn that wandered into its backyard, according to a report from FOX 29.

Stephanie Capodanno, Sally’s owner, said this was not the first time a deer had found its way to the family’s yard, but she had never seen a fawn get that close to the house before.

Capodanno and her family first noticed the fawn when they let their dog go out for a bathroom break. In an unexpected turn of events, the young deer, instead of running away, decided to make a new friend.

The pair played together for a few minutes, long enough for Capodanno to grab her phone and record the moment on video. The two new friends can be seen circling each other and jumping around with their tails wagging in excitement.

Eventually, the fawn ran off into a small patch of woods behind the house. And while the family never saw the baby’s mother, it believes she was observing the interaction from the safety of the treeline.

Ever since the fawn left, Capodanno has been searching for her new friend to come back and play.
