Monty Python Fan in Phoenixville Gives Jurisdiction Over Her Sidewalk to ‘Ministry of Silly Walks’

To make the bleak, self-isolation days a little brighter in her neighborhood, a Monty Python fan in Phoenixville has joined a worldwide movement and handed jurisdiction over her sidewalk to “The Ministry of Silly Walks,” writes Stephanie Farr for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“The Ministry of Silly Walks” appeared in a classic, 1970 Monty Python sketch in which John Cleese plays a rubber-legged minister in the fictional government agency.

Now, Alden Krausse – the self-proclaimed “First Minister of Phoenixville” – has placed a sign in front of her home that reads: “You have now entered the jurisdiction of The Ministry of Silly Walks. Commence silly walking immediately!”

She is sharing some of the silly walks captured on her home surveillance camera on her Instagram account.

Krausse, who lives in Phoenixville’s Northridge Village, got her doorbell camera specifically to record reactions to the sign.

“Phoenixville is known for being a little quirky and cool, so I thought it was a good idea to spread a little cheer and have a little fun,” she said. “My neighborhood has been fantastic about participating.”
