With financial losses still mounting due to the coronavirus pandemic, mayors throughout Chester County are hopeful that their communities and its plethora of small businesses will experience an economic rebound soon, writes Jen Samuel for the Daily Local News.

Although the majority of businesses in downtown Kennett Square are still closed, there is now hope on the horizon.

“We expect to have some very exciting news,” Kennett Square Mayor Matthew Fetick said, “about different initiatives to support our businesses and residents.”

He said that the borough is looking forward to providing the tools and support needed to help speed up economic recovery.

West Chester Mayor Dianne Herrin emphasized that the borough and its business community are fighting for their employees and businesses. They are now joining forces with Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, the Business Improvement District, and elected officials to obtain funding through government relief packages.

“Here in West Chester, our borough government is working to reduce expenses in the face of loss of revenue, and planning is underway to address the borough’s revenue shortfalls in the months ahead,” said Herrin.
