West Chester University graduate Andrea Helfrich, the Philadelphia Flyers’ In-Arena Host, has decided to open up about her experience with coronavirus, writes Sam Carchidi for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Helfrich, who studied broadcast journalism at WCU and was crowned Miss Philadelphia 2010, recently detailed the first six days of battling the coronavirus on her Instagram account.

On the first day, Helfrich noticed her throat was sore and her eyes were itching. The next day, she also started feeling lethargic with severe headaches.

“They’re not normal headaches,” she said. Instead, it felt like somebody was inside her skull “with a hammer, trying to get out. And they’ve only gotten worse.”

On the third day, she knew something was seriously wrong and decided to “shut down my world and stayed in bed and slept all day.”

The headaches on the fourth day were debilitating. Additionally, she started to lose her sense of taste. By the fifth day, her sense of smell was gone.

The sixth day was characterized by severe lethargy.

She said she made the video, hoping it will help people who contract the virus navigate what is going on. However, she also acknowledged it can be “so different for everyone.”
