Chris Curtin, the owner and master chocolatier of Éclat Chocolate in West Chester, which stopped serving the public directly from its storefront in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has decided to restart pick-up sales, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

“We closed the retail setting as a precaution measure to protect my team and the community,” said Curtin. “It was the right thing to do, an easy decision to make. There are things more important than economics.”

Since the temporary closure, the store that has been recognized for having the best chocolate in America by Food & Wine magazine, has continued to make fresh chocolate for its online store.

The business has significantly heightened safety measures, with all 12 employees required to wear masks at all times. Additionally, the chocolate makers work in separate buildings with workers operating separately.

“We maintain social distancing to take care of the people we care about,” said Curtin.
