Some members of the public have been showing their appreciation for local healthcare workers by providing meals for the staff at Chester County Hospital, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Local News.

The outpouring of support has been so massive that the hospital has had to institute a sign-up system to regulate the incoming meals.

According to Thomas Gavin, director of development at the Chester County Hospital Foundation, the new system will make it possible for different departments and units to share in the donations on multiple days.

In addition to donating food, many residents have been making cards for the healthcare workers, as well as shields and masks.

Some people, such as Leo Zahurak, have found ways to help both the hospital and local restaurants. He has teamed up with Frank Mingrino, owner of Limoncello Ristorante, to reach out to other residents and raise funds to provide staff members with gift cards to four West Chester restaurants they can use once the pandemic ends.

“Chester County Hospital is touched and inspired by the outpouring of love and support we have received from our friends and neighbors,” said Gavin.
