Great Valley High School graduate Becca Yankelevich, a first-year student at Rutgers Law School, is volunteering for the Medical Students for Masks fundraiser to help collect donations of medical supplies for healthcare professionals in the Philadelphia area, writes Jeanne Leong for Rutgers-Camden News.

Yankelevich starts her day by attending remote learning courses that are now in effect due to the coronavirus pandemic. As soon as her classes are finished, she begins reaching out to various medical supply distributors, manufacturers, and stores to see if they have any personal protective equipment they would be willing to donate.

Yankelevich, who earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Temple, got involved with the initiative to help her sister, Gabi, who is a medical student at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

“We want healthcare workers to go into work and have basic protective equipment available to them,” said Yankelevich.

So far, the initiative has managed to distribute essential equipment to more than 25 hospitals and healthcare organizations.
