A number of small business owners in Chester County voiced their concern over how to survive amidst the coronavirus pandemic during a virtual town hall, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
During the event, county officials provided small business owners with a rundown on what Small Business Administration programs, legislation, and loans were available to them.
While private businesses and nonprofits can seek relief from some of these programs, apartment landlords with tenants who cannot pay rent are not eligible for any of them. This puts them in a difficult position as nobody is planning to evict non-paying tenants during a pandemic.
“I’m working with a group of businesses in Phoenixville and loans just are not going to cut it,” said Lisa Longo, a business consultant. “The money they lose will never be made up. We need grants.”
