Meridian Bank has been named one of the Top Five SBA Lenders in Greater Philadelphia, according to a listing compiled by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The rankings looked at the total dollar amount of local 7(a) lending generated during the 2019 fiscal year (October to September) in the tri-state area. That year marked Meridian Bank’s first as a preferred SBA lender.

Despite its new SBA team, which is led by veteran SBA lender Rocco Perate, only getting started in March, Meridian managed to share the Top Five spotlight with four much-larger financial institutions.

“Considering that this was the result of just over a half year’s work for my team at Meridian, we’re gratified by the recognition,” said Perate. “But we’re really too busy helping small businesses succeed to stop and celebrate. Our goal is to be at the top of that list.”
